Patton Field House
Opened in 2017, the Patton Field House includes expansive film rooms, an all inclusive fitness center, locker rooms and a state of the art Athletic Training room. Our Training Room is operated by two full-time experienced Athletic Trainers whose office overlooks a majority of our campus’ athletic fields which allows for early action and response when tending to student-athletes. Our trainers are equipped with 8 wrapping and rehab stations, a hot/cold tub, and a doctors office for our team doctors to utilize during appointments with our student athletes.
Training Room
The FWCD Athletic Training Room is located in Patton Field House. The 1,000-square-foot facility houses state-of-the-art equipment and modalities for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Our two full-time, nationally certified, state licensed Athletic Trainers utilize a cold tub for post-workout recovery and cold-water immersion, four Game Ready® portable recovery systems that promote deeper-penetrating, longer-lasting cold and active compression therapies, two ultrasound and two electric stimulation units, seven training tables and four taping stations. FWCD has earned the Safe Sports School designation from the National Athletic Trainers' Association three consecutive times.
Moritz Fitness Center
The Moritz Fitness Center (MFC) opened in 2017, as part of the Patton Field House, to serve all FWCD students and student-athletes. It includes 5,500 square feet of training area and is equipped with 12 power racks, 12 platforms, free weights, weight machines, and cardio equipment. The MFC also includes two TV's that allow integration of technology in order to make training sessions more efficient. FWCD students have access to one of the best high school level weight rooms in the country. They are able to use it to enhance their athletic career or to learn healthy training habits, so that they may be able to effectively and safely train on their own once they graduate. A certified Strength & Conditioning coach prescribes all performance training for students in Middle School and Upper School Physical Education, as well as Athletics. All FWCD sports teams utilize the MFC during their season, and are encouraged to come and train during the off-season as much as possible.
Tennis Center
FWCD broke ground on the FWCD Tennis Center on August 28, 2015. The tennis center features 10 courts, four of which are lighted, making it possible for the School to host competitions on campus instead of leasing courts at outlying venues. In addition to FWCD Athletic Team practices and competitions, the courts are utilized by MS Physical Education classes and Falcon Sports Camps. The courts officially opened for play for the start of the tennis season on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. This facility is a cornerstone of the School’s Then, Now, Forever. funding initiative. Seven of the 10 courts are named:
Luskey Ace Court: Named in memory of Former Trustee Henry Luskey given by Jeanie Luskey, Steven Luskey ’92 and Valrie Luskey Eberstein ’96
● Todora Ace Court: Given by the Michael and Helen Todora Family, Robert ’17, Harrison ’20, Vivian ’23 and John ’29
● Park Championship Court: Given by Judy and Major Park; Martha and Rob Park, Katie ’16, Megan ’18 and Robert ’18

● Beadles Court: Given by Allison and John Beadles ’88
● Petsche Court: Given by the Bonnie and Alan Petsche Family, Kate ’11, Alec ’13, Eric ’16 and Julia ’20 Varsity Field Hockey Field
FWCD’s new Varsity Field Hockey Field features a new “wet” field hockey field — considered the gold standard in competitive field hockey and comparable to fields played on during World Cup and Olympic Field Hockey matches. The water-based turf surface, manufactured by SporTurf™, uses a water cannon irrigation system allowing FWCD to “weather the field” before games and practices. The field is completely flat with no crown whatsoever, enabling field hockey players to maximize speed and performance. FWCD is the first school in DFW and the third in the state of Texas to implement this field surface technology, providing a valuable site for the sport of field hockey in North Texas.
Rosacker Stadium
Athletics have played an important role throughout the life of the school.
In 1974, a 500-seat stadium and all-weather track were built and, at the initiative of FWCD alumni, the stadium was named Rosacker Stadium in the early 1990s to honor Col. R.C. "Rocky" Rosacker. "The Colonel" was a beloved teacher, winning coach and athletic director during his years at FWCD, 1969-1981 and 1990-1996.
In 2022, the grass-surfaced field at Rosacker Stadium transitioned into a PowerBlade fiber-based turf surface field, manufactured by Shaw Sports Turf. Constructed out of advanced monofilament fibers, it combines the softness and lush appearance of natural grass with the engineered performance of modern synthetic turf, preparing FWCD’s football and soccer athletes to compete on turf fields, which are becoming the standard in top-performing collegiate football and soccer programs.
Underneath the PowerBlade synthetic turf system is a pad to reduce shock absorption, as well as a partial coconut-based Geofill infill system that cools the field’s temperature and makes it resistant to mold, mildew, and salts.
Barrett Havran '98 Track
FWCD’s Barrett Havran Track underwent renovation in 2022 and now features the most durable of paved-in-place systems, the PTS 4000 sandwich system manufactured by Paragon Track Surfaces. The system has a paved-in-place base mat sealed with two-component polyurethane, resulting in a 100% impermeable surface. The system’s top layer consists of EPDM rubber granules broadcast into a hand-poured polyurethane layer, providing a spike-resistant stable system that maximizes performance for multiple purposes including high-level track meets, PE, and off-season workouts, while withstanding consistent year-round use. The new track will also incorporate a steeplechase pit, two in-field shot put sectors, and colored exchange zones for relays.
FWCD’s Havran Track serve as a venue for international-caliber track-and-field competitions and is rivaled by no other high school in North Texas.

North Gymnasium (Square Gym)
The North Gymnasium, built in 1982, referred to as the square gym is where some of our indoor athletic competitions are held. The square gym is also used as a practice space for our volleyball and basketball teams. FWCD is a proud member of the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) which allows our teams to travel as far North as Oklahoma and as far South as San Antonio for competition. Our square gym also has a climbing wall with a secure belay system that allows our students to climb high and “FlyHigher”!
Sid Richardson Gymnasium (Round Gym)
The Athletic Complex is truly a multi-use facility that includes the Sid W. Richardson Gymnasium (Round Gym), the North Gymnasium (Square Gym), ballet studio, Band Hall, Wrestling Room, Weight Training Room, a climbing wall, campus store and offices for the coaches and Athletic Director. Banners and plaques on the walls of the halls and hanging from the ceiling of the gyms recognize the athletic achievements of teams and individual students throughout the years. The Wall of Fame recognizes FWCD students who lettered in college sports and the Pro Sports Wall of Fame recognizes FWCD students who went on to play professional sports.
Ropes Challenge Course
Students in grades seven, nine and eleven annually participate in a Ropes Day Challenge program specifically designed to provide opportunities for personal growth, development of leadership skills and to experience the benefits of learning to work as a team. The Ropes Course is located on a treed hill that overlooks the campus.
Practice/Playing Fields
The Athletic Fields are easy to spot and are the center of much activity on a daily basis at FWCD. The large grassy area has remained a constant and undisturbed space despite new additions to the campus over the years. The open area is divided into four fields and is utilized daily for Upper and Middle School athletic practices and games, and is also used for Lower and Middle School PE and recess. Other activities on the fields include the Lower School Red Ribbon Run, Founder's Day events, Back to School Picnic and a host of other JK-12 events.
