  1. New Faculty/Staff Virtual Tour: Getting to Know Your New Workplace

    Virtual Tour Designed for new employees, faculty, and staff of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus.

    1. Human Resources - Cherokee Mills

      Located off campus in the Cherokee Mills building, the Human Resources Office supports employees with everything from benefits information to career development resources. HR teams include Compensation, Employee Relations, Employee Success, Executive Search, HR Operations, and Recruitment. Most new employees will schedule an appointment with HR before the first day of work to submit I-9 documentation.

    2. Parking and Transportation Services - Christman Building

      New employees should coordinate with their department on or before their first day of work regarding the best time to visit the Parking Office to obtain an applicable parking pass. New parking permits are purchased in person at the Parking & Transportation office. For more information on parking permit rates, please visit the Parking and Transportation website.

    3. T-Bus Transportation

      The T serves campus seven days a week with a fleet of 34 buses, 12 fixed routes, and on-demand accessible transportation via the T Access and T Link. It’s free to ride, making it an affordable and efficient option for students, faculty, staff, and visitors moving around campus.

    4. Key Shop - Walters Academic Building

      Staff who work on campus will need access to their building, suite, and office. If access isn’t granted digitally using a smart device, staff will require a key assigned to them. Staff can coordinate with supervisors to order and pick up keys from the Key Shop with Lock & Key Services.

    5. VolCard Office - Student Services Building

      The VolCard Office is responsible for creating VolCard IDs for faculty, staff, and students. The team manages accounts associated with VolCard IDs that can be used for employee discounts, building access, campus eateries, and vending machines.

    6. Headshots - Communications Building

      The Office of Communications and Marketing has award–winning photographers who devote two hours weekly to professional headshots for faculty and staff. Check the Employee Hub for hours and availability.

    7. UPM - Postal/Passport/UCopy Office - Student Union

      University Print & Mail has a full-service post office in the Student Union available for faculty, staff, and students, which provides stamp sales, parcel processing, express, registered, certified, and insured mail, and money orders. Outgoing mail may be dropped off at the post office, or any designated mail collection or campus mail drop box. UPM also offers passport and copy services.

    8. UT Federal Credit Union - Student Union

      UT Federal Credit Union offers various financial services to faculty, staff, students, and community members. Access to finance professionals is an added campus convenience.

    9. VolShop - Student Union

      The Student Union houses the VolShop, the official campus store. It also includes VolBooks, VolTech, and VolSnacks. UT employees can enjoy a 20% discount off of qualifying purchases, excluding products from VolTech.

    10. Fleet Management

      UT employees can register with Fleet Management to rent a vehicle for business travel. The office makes road travel simpler, more efficient, and enjoyable for UT faculty and staff.

    11. Fitness Membership - TRECS

      RecSports is the Department of Recreational Sports within the Division of Student Life. It serves faculty, staff, and students by providing a wide variety of programs and facilities, as well as rental equipment, group fitness classes, outdoor recreation trips, and certification courses. Regular and full-time faculty and staff are eligible for a monthly payroll deduction for a RecSports membership.

    12. John C Hodges Library

      The University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s main library, commonly referred to as “Hodges”, is at the heart of campus and the hub for intellectual activity. Employees can utilize the top-notch facilities and technological resources, check out books for a year at a time, access the Medbery Makerspace, and receive a discount at the UT Press.

    13. Recycling Drop-Off Location - Service for Employees

      The University of Tennessee’s Public Recycling Drop-Off provides a convenient recycling option for both the campus and the greater Knoxville community. The facility is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and accepts a wide variety of materials that are often difficult to recycle through traditional curbside programs.

    14. UT Police Department

      The UT Police Department maintains around-the-clock surveillance to ensure a safe and secure campus environment, reflecting the university’s strong commitment to safety. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to download the Safe at UT app on their smartphones to receive timely updates and guidance during emergencies or campus closures. The UT Police Department office can be accessed through the ground floor entrance off Cumberland Avenue.

    15. Blue Phones

      Blue Phones are emergency call stations located across campus that connect users directly with UTPD. Blue phones and Neyland Stadium’s speakers are used for emergency announcements.

    16. University Commons

      University Commons includes a VolShop, a grocery store, and other restaurants and service businesses.

    17. Vol Dining

      Vol Dining is a key part of the campus experience, offering convenient dining options for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. From full meals to quick grab-and-go choices, Vol Dining offers more than 40 locations, emphasizing variety and flexibility, supporting a wide range of tastes and dietary needs. These spaces also serve as important gathering points across campus, creating opportunities for connection, convenience, and community throughout the day.     18. P.O.D. Markets

      Vol Dining offers 11 markets conveniently located across campus, making it easy for employees to grab what they need throughout the day. Our P.O.D. Markets combine the feel of a traditional corner store with a modern market experience, featuring convenient grab-and-go options for breakfast, lunch, snacks, or anytime in between.

       

      Vol Market, located at Volunteer Hall, is the newest rebranded version of our campus convenience stores, offering all the favorites you love from the P.O.D. Markets, but with added Big Orange spirit.

    19. Pharmacy

      The Student Health Center (SHC) Pharmacy is a privately owned community pharmacy located on the first floor of the Student Health Center Building. It is the only full-service retail pharmacy located on the UT campus and specializes in serving all UT students, faculty, and staff.

    20. Community Practice

      Community Practice is a general practice veterinary service for faculty, staff, and students of the University of Tennessee. It offers services including pediatric and geriatric wellness examinations, preventative care for healthy pets, diagnosis and treatment of injuries and illness, and counseling on topics such as basic nutrition, behavior, and end of life decisions. UT employees receive 10% off all products and services.
