  1. Admissions Self-Guided Tour

    Follow the route of a general admissions campus tour.

    1. Laker Experience Suite

      The Laker Experience Suite (LES) is an extension of the Admissions and Recruitment Office. This is where you'll start your tour when you come for a campus visit. Find the entrance to the LES inside the lobby of Lubbers Student Services Center.

    2. Arend and Nancy Lubbers Student Services Center

      The Arend and Nancy Lubbers Student Services Center is one of the first buildings you will visit at Grand Valley, and you will return often once you start your journey here.

      True to its name, the building combines a variety of services under one roof, including Admissions, Financial Aid, the Dean of Students Office, and Registrar’s Office, as well as the Student Academic Success Center. It is also home to our state-of-the-art Laker Experience Suite, which is a welcoming reception area for meeting prospective students and parents.

    3. Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons

      You won't find another library like this one.

      The Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons is the home of University Libraries and is the intellectual hub of our main campus. This state-of-the-art building is a prototype for 21st century learning, with an innovative and student-focused design.

      You will enjoy a range of learning environments, from quiet to collaborative, in which you can study by yourself or work on a group project. You really do have to see it for yourself to grasp how special it is.

      • The Atomic Object Technology Showcase gives students a hands-on chance to learn and play with the latest technologies.
      • The Knowledge Market has highly trained students who work as peer consultants one-on-one or with small groups to help students develop research strategies, writing skills, and polish presentations.
      • The IT Help Desk loans laptops and iPads, as well as provides hardware and software support for current GVSU students, faculty, and staff.
      • The building is LEED Platinum certified, the highest LEED certification.
    4. Russel H. Kirkhof Center

      The Russell H. Kirkhof Center has been the social heart of the Allendale campus since Grand Valley opened it's doors.

      It offers study lounges, event spaces, a game room with movie theatre, a variety of dining options and vending machines, and the 2020 Information Desk.

    5. Great Lakes Plaza

      Great Lakes Plaza is a central location on campus between a group of academic and administrative buildings. Including;

      Lake Michigan Hall
      Lake Ontario Hall
      Seidman House
      Lake Huron Hall
      Au Sable Hall
      Zumberge Hall

      Great Lakes Plaza is also home to monumental sculptures that are part of the GVSU art collection and beautiful views that change with the seasons.

    6. Little Mac Bridge

      Grand Valley's 230-foot Little Mac Bridge (short for Mackinac) is an iconic piece of our University's architecture. It connects Henry Hall and the Great Lakes Plaza and spans a scenic 70' ravine.

      It was recently renovated to a more enclosed design, making it a safer and more enjoyable experience for students and visitors.

    7. Mackinac Hall

      Mackinac Hall, with its modern classrooms, collaborative study spaces, and specialized labs and computer labs tailored to a variety of programs, is an academic staple on the Allendale campus.

      The College of Computing has four labs dedicated to computing students, including the Exploratory Operations Systems Lab, Architecture Lab, and Data Communications Lab.

      Most first-year students will have class in Mackinac Hall their first year. Its close proximity to North Campus housing, and welcoming atmosphere creates a sense of belonging among students, faculty, and staff. 

       

       

    8. P. Douglas Kindschi Hall of Science

      The P. Douglas Kindschi Hall of Science is our newest and most modern science facility on the Allendale campus. It contains nine classrooms, 15 teaching labs, 14 labs dedicated to mentored research with faculty, a computational research lab, study spaces, and a working herbarium filled with a variety of plant species to observe and study.

      If you are a hard sciences major, Kindschi Hall will be a vital resource that will prepare you for your career.

    9. Recreation Center

      Your home for everything fitness and recreation. Grand Valley's Recreation Center is conveniently located on the Allendale campus, next to the Fieldhouse, and a short distance from numerous living centers. Whether you want to lift weights, use the fitness equipment, run around the track, or compete in an intramural basketball league, the Rec Center is where you want to be.

      • Home to Recreation & Wellness and Athletic & Recreation Facility offices. 
      • Space is used for informal recreation and Movement Science classroom space.
      • Includes a three-court main gymnasium, five additional courts for basketball, volleyball, and multiple activities, a 1/9 mile three-lane track on the third level, two levels of fitness equipment, weight rooms, and stretching/functional training spaces.
      • Features an instructional fitness studio equipped with spin bikes.
      • Recreation equipment and outdoor equipment rentals available. 
      • Includes men’s, women’s, and gender-inclusive locker rooms fitted with day-use lockers and showers. 
      • Space is also used for Intramural Sports, Personal Training, Small Group Training, and fitness classes.
    10. Robert Kleiner Commons

      For first-year students living on campus, the Robert Kleiner Commons is the place to have a meal, grab a snack or two, or study. It is home to several dining options, including the Dish, POD convenient store, and Java City coffee.

      Students love the colorful atmosphere and vibrant food selection Kleiner provides. We know you will too!

    11. Housing Style Options

      North Campus is where a majority of first-year students live at GVSU. Housing options on North Campus are conveniently located near campus dining and buildings where a majority of first-year students will have classes.

      North Campus housing style options include:

      Apartment style, one- or two-bedroom
