    Stops

    1. William N. Pennington Engineering Building

The William N. Pennington Engineering Building (WPEB) has a 200-student lecture hall and computer labs for student use on the first floors, along with the Davidson Foundation Cleanroom used for nanofabrication research. (You can take a peek into the lab through the windows from the hallway.)

It is home of the Dean’s Office, which provides information on Engineering’s exchange programs and Engineering scholarships, as well as the Computer Science & Engineering Department, one of the five Engineering departments.

In addition, WPEB houses the Nevada Water Innovation Institute, which partners with local and regional water agencies to solve water problems and promote economic growth in the Truckee Meadows.

    2. Harry Reid Engineering Laboratory

Harry Reid Engineering Laboratory (HREL) rooms 109-110 are where the Engineering club fairs happen, along with such activities as the Engineering welcome back barbecue and Engineering summer camps

It is also home to a number of labs and the Western Regional Superpave Center, which assists highway agencies and contractors with new analysis procedures for pavement performance testing.

It houses the Large-Scale Structures Lab, home of the Laminar Soil Box System used to test soil-structure interaction.

The Large-Scale Structures Lab and the Earthquake Engineering Lab just to the east of the Harry Reid Engineering Laboratory house the University’s Center for Civil Engineering Earthquake Research.

    3. Scrugham Engineering and Mines Building

Scrugham Engineering is is where you’ll find the Engineering Advising and Outreach Center (SEM 131), the Engineering Tutoring Center (SEM 133) and Engineering Career Services (SEM 132).

There also are computer labs for student use as well as the American Society for Civil Engineers (ASCE) student club lounge and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) student club lounge.

The building houses the University’s Cybersecurity Center, which brings together cross-disciplinary teams to address the challenges of cybersecurity and offers the National Science Foundation’s CyberCorps® Scholarship for Service program.

In addition, SEM is home to two of the five Engineering departments: Civil & Environmental Engineering and Electrical & Biomedical Engineering.

    4. Palmer Engineering

Opened in 1941 for the Mechanical and Civil Engineering departments, Palmer Engineering is part of the University Historic District.

Renovated in 2017, Palmer Engineering is now home to the College’s Mechanical Engineering Department (one of the College’s five departments) and the Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Lab, which offers professional technical services to industry through the Nevada Center for Applied Research.

    5. Davidson Math and Science Center

Davidson Math and Science Center is home to the 464-seat Redfield Foundation Auditorium, where first-year engineering students take their ENGR-100 classes. It’s also where the College holds special events, such as the Order of the Engineer ceremony. This building also houses classrooms and offices of the College of Science.

    6. Paul Laxalt Mineral Research

Laxalt Mineral Research is home to the Chemical & Materials Engineering Department (one of the College’s five departments). In addition to several labs, the building is home to the Electron Microscopy and Microanalysis Facility and Materials Testing & Characterization Services.

The building is connected to the Paul Laxalt Mineral Engineering (LME) building.

    7. Paul Laxalt Mineral Engineering

Paul Laxalt Mineral Engineering (LME) is home to chemical and materials engineering labs as well as labs and classrooms of the College of Science. LME is connected to the Paul Laxalt Mineral Engineering (LME) building.

    8. DeLaMare Library

Located in the Mackay Mines Building, the DeLaMare has the Makerspace @DeLaMare Library, where you can reserve fabrication equipment and tools such as 3D printers and scanners, laser and vinyl cutters and more. Quiet study areas make this a popular place with Engineering students.

    9. Jot Travis Building

The Jot Travis Building (JTB) has lab space for ENGR-100, Introduction to Engineering Design. This class introduces engineering design, professional ethics, project planning, prototype fabrication, engineering creativity and an overview of engineering disciplines.
