This parking lot is where our OAR guests are encouraged to park. For your OAR experience, we have ensured it is free to park for our guests.

    2. Swenson Civil Engineering Building (SCiv)

Earning a LEED Gold Certification from its grass roof, natural lighting, and repurposed pickle barrel wood, this is a truly unique space. Civil Engineers and hopeful students use the Engineering High Bay for many research projects. Did you see the time capsule located in the wall of taconite when you walked in? For OAR, we host check-in and the Resource Fair in this space.

    3. Kathryn A. Martin Library (KAML)

Named after UMD’s 11th chancellor and the first female chancellor in the entire U of M system, our library hosts the “Clear and Silver Chandelier” hanging in the center of a circle. This one of a kind, 350-lb piece of art was designed by Dale Chihuly, a world renowned artist and glassblower. Standing directly under the chandelier and talking will show you why it’s called the Echo Circle!

    4. Kirby Plaza (KPlz)

This space is a focal point of everyday resources for students.
The 1st floor has the Northern Shores Coffee Shop (which offers a large variety of organic, fair trade coffee drinks and an assortment of snacks) the Print Shop, Huntington Bank, International Programs and Services, and Information Technology Systems and Services (ITSS).

    5. Kirby Student Center (KSC)

Many folks refer to this space as just “Kirby” or the “heart of campus”.

The 2nd floor hosts UMD’s Multicultural Center (MC). The MC includes the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Disability Resources. In addition to being a safe and open space for all students, the MC supports programs that focus on diversity and equity to promote a healthy community.
