    1. UMD Housing: Your Home Base

      From traditional halls to apartment-style living, UMD has housing to suit your style. Explore our options and find your home away from home. Visit campus to see for yourself.

    2. Superior Dining Center

      Grabbing a bite to eat is super easy at UMD. With the state-of-the-art Superior Dining Center there're tons of awesome options including fresh fruit, salad and grains, make-and-take sandwiches,  and even a Mongolian Grill. Not to mention a full food court and coffee shop.

      The Superior Dining Center (SDC) serves three meals a day, five days a week, and brunch and dinner on the weekends. Students living on campus can choose from multiple meal plans for this “all you care to eat” center. 

      UMD Dining Services prioritizes sustainability by collaborating with UMD Land Labs to feature fresh produce, partnering with local businesses for supplies, and actively seeking new sustainable food partnerships. To reduce waste, they engage in meal planning, portion control, bulk ordering, and donating excess food to Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank. They also recycle aluminum, plastic, and glass, provide compostable alternatives in certain areas, and promote the use of reusable containers through their Reusable Container Program. Fresh Leaf Catering goes a step further by offering zero-waste-to-landfill events through practices like using washable dishware, donating surplus food, and composting leftovers.

    3. Ianni Hall

      A variety of furnished housing options are available at UMD to suit different living styles and student needs. About 1,800 students live in UMD's traditional residence halls, and another 1,100 live in the on-campus apartment-style units. So, there's something here for just about everyone.

      This residence hall named for Lawrence A. Ianni, former Chancellor at the University of Minnesota Duluth from 1987 – 1995, has many built in features that change dorm life for students. Along with study lounges with views of Lake Superior and Chester Bowl on each floor, the lobby has a fireplace and gathering space including mailroom access and digital data display of the building power usage.     4. Griggs Hall A-D

      Griggs Hall A,B,C,D and K,L,M,N (also called "Middle Griggs") was completed earliest within Griggs Hall and is located directly off of Lake Superior Hall, and is three stories. Click here to learn more about Griggs A-D and to view 360° photospheres of the dorms.

    5. Griggs Hall E-F

      Griggs Hall was named for businessman Richard L. Griggs. Griggs was a University Regent from 1939-1963, as well as a patron and financial supporter of UMD. He donated 160 acres of land on which the main campus now sits. 

      Griggs E/F is a seven-story section is directly connected to Ianni Hall, and is the most recent addition to Griggs Hall.  Griggs E/F is also home to the most commonly used conference room within Housing for events and programs.     8. Vermillion Hall

    9. Lake Superior Hall

      Lake Superior Hall, whose namesake you can see from the upper floors, is a 7-floor tower.  LSH has an unique cloverleaf design, which has three separate pods on each floor, creating smaller community groupings on each floor.  Each floor also features two lounge spaces for students to utilize.     10. Burntside Hall

    11. Heaney Hall

    12. Goldfine Hall

      Goldfine Hall is an apartment complex which is divided into three distinct buildings (A, B, and C).  The complex is dedicated to Erwin L.     13. Junction Apartments

      Junction Apartments is a 3 floor apartment complex located on Junction Avenue comprised of 2 separate buildings.  The buildings are named Cuyuna (A) and Mesabi (B) in honor of the two northern Minnesota Iron Ranges.
