1. Education Center at Blue Island Tour

   The Education Center at Blue Island is now open to help students with admissions, financial aid, placement testing, and registration questions.

   Stops

   1. Main Lobby

      The lobby includes our front desk and cybercafe. Students and community members have access to computers, printers, a scanner and electronic charging station. Ample study spaces reserved for students include comfortable chairs, couches, and tables are located on the first, second and third floors.

   2. Classrooms and Lab

      Thirteen classrooms are available at the Education Center at Blue Island, most with seating for 32 students. This includes three computer labs, phlebotomy lab, basic nursing assistant lab and nursing labs. The courses offered change every semester, and the center offers a variety of classes, including general education courses that count toward an associate degree and can transfer to four-year colleges and universities toward a bachelor’s degree. General education courses include composition, math, life science, physical science, humanities, fine arts and social sciences. Adult Education courses such as High School Equivalency (offered in English or Spanish), English as a Second Language and Citizenship courses also are offered.

      The center offers career program courses for students going into such fields as nursing, phlebotomy, basic nursing assistant, medical assistant and more.

      Most courses at the Education Center at Blue Island are in person. Hybrid courses, where a portion of the course is in the classroom and a portion is online (usually meeting one day per week), also are offered.

   3. Student Services

      A student development specialist and other staff are available to provide general services regarding admissions, enrollment, financial aid and academic planning.

      The center also provides photo ID, and placement testing. Bookstore and Library services are also available so students can request books and periodicals from the main campus and have them delivered to the Blue Island. The center also provides short term (2 hr) loans for textbooks, headphones and calculators to MV students.

   4. Testing Center

      The testing center is where students can take the placement test. Placement test exemptions can be found online here. Students also can take makeup tests and quizzes in our Testing Center.

   5. Tutoring Center

      In-person and online tutoring is available. Our virtual writing center connects students with the main campus for assistance with papers and research.

   6. Student Cyber Center, Second Floor

      Students have access to a variety of computers and ample study spaces

   7. Vending Area, Second Floor

      Students may enjoy a beverage or snack in the vending area.

   8. Phlebotomy Lab

      Students can train to become a phlebotomist and start a career that is in demand in as little as two semesters.

   9. Career Connections Youth Program

      Career Connections is a free, federally funded work readiness program where our mission is to prepare young adults for the workforce.

   10. Nursing Lab and Simulation Rooms

       The Nursing Program at Moraine Valley is a two-year special admission program, licensed by the State of Illinois, which starts in either the fall or spring of each year.

   11. BNAT Lab

       Basic Nurse Assistant Training (BNAT) offers students exceptional instruction in patient care skill application and provides a fundamental introduction to the nursing profession.

   12. Parking Lot

       Free parking is available in the City of Blue Island parking lot, located immediately west of the building. Additional parking is available in the city lot one block northeast.
