Joseph M. Gillette Welcome Center
The Welcome Center opened in 2007 and is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Hal Greer Boulevard. The center serves as the starting point for campus tours.
Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center
The Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center is located on Fifth Avenue on the south side of campus across from the Memorial Student Center. Completed in 1992, the facility was named to honor Joan C. Edwards, a Huntington philanthropist and patron of the arts. The facility includes performance and support space for a 530-seat theater auditorium, an experimental theater, and rehearsal rooms.

Old Main
Marshall University's "Old Main" is a series of five buildings joined together between the years 1868 and 1908. Resting on a knoll facing Hal Greer Boulevard and Fourth Avenue, the landmark's distinctive towers are among the university's most-recognized symbols. Today, Old Main houses most of our administrative offices such as the Office of Admissions, Office of the Registrar, the Office of the Bursar, and the Office of Financial Aid. Additionally, the offices of the College of Liberal Arts and Honors College are located within Old Main. Old Main was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
Stewart H. Smith Hall
Stewart H. Smith Hall, a seven story structure on Third Avenue at the northwest corner of campus, opened in 1967 and was named in honor of Stewart H. Smith, President of Marshall University from 1946 to 1968. The Stewart H. Smith Hall complex, which is made of up of Evelyn Hollberg Smith Music Hall, the Birke Art Gallery, and the main Smith Hall tower, which contains general classrooms and offices of the College of Liberal Arts, School of Journalism & Mass Communications, School of Music, College of Science, the Department of Mathematics and the College of Arts & Media.

Morrow Library
The James E. Morrow Library, located on Third Avenue on the north side of campus, was constructed in 1930 and named to honor James E. Morrow, who headed Marshall College from 1872-73 (he was the grandfather of Anne Morrow Lindbergh). An addition completed in 1967 doubled its size to over 100,000 square feet.
Science Building
Located on Third Avenue on the north side of campus, the Science Building was dedicated in 1950 and expanded in 1985 and 1995. The facility houses College of Science administration, offices, classrooms and laboratories, along with animal quarters, a greenhouse and a chemical storage building on the east side.
The Arthur Weisberg Family Applied Engineering Complex
The Arthur Weisberg Family Applied Engineering Complex is a beautiful and modern facility which features advanced learning environments, as well laboratory space for students and faculty. The Engineering Building is one of the newest buildings here at Marshall, and is just one example of how we are constantly evolving to stay current with technology.
The Arthur Weisberg Family Engineering Laboratories, located on Third Avenue across from Smith Hall, opened in 2008. The 16,000 square-foot facility is named in honor of philanthropists Arthur and Joan Weisberg of Huntington.It houses laboratories to support courses in material testing, soil mechanics, hydraulics and environmental engineering, and features an electronic classroom, offices, a technician room, a balance room and a visualization lab.
Harris Hall
Harris Hall, on Third Avenue on the north side of campus, was completed in 1976 and named in honor of Arvil Ernest Harris, a political science and social studies professor who served as Dean of the Graduate School from 1948 to 1964.

First Year Residence Halls
The 161,000 square-foot, 782-bed residence halls have been open since 2008. They consist of two buildings, the North and South Residence Halls, and are located toward the east end of campus. Specialty areas include a theater, conference room, classroom, laundry, study areas and a lounge/café. The halls also feature up-to-date technology, including one wired port per bed, wireless accessibility in all areas, VoIP security phones, video surveillance, card swipe entry access and multimedia in specialty rooms.
The Rec Center
The 123,000-square-foot Marshall Recreation Center, located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 20th Street, houses a swimming pool, a 1/7-mile running track, a group exercise room, basketball, volleyball, racquetball, badminton and pickle ball courts and a climbing wall. The facility also is equipped with a wide range of exercise equipment including treadmills, step machines and weight machines.The recreation center has been open since 2009.
Cam Henderson Center
Cam Henderson Center, opened in 1981 and home to Marshall men's and women's basketball, is located on the south side of Third Avenue. The facility was named to honor legendary coach Cam Henderson, whose career at Marshall extended from 1935 to 1955. Special features include a 9,000-plus seat basketball arena, four secondary basketball courts, racquetball courts, training rooms, weight rooms, locker rooms meeting rooms, and a swimming pool where our swim team meets. On the 3rd Avenue entrance is the ticket box office. As a full-time Marshall student, you benefit from free tickets to every home sporting event.
Buskirk Hall
A six-story women's residence with a capacity of approximately 250, Buskirk Hall is on the east side of the inner campus. Opened in 1965 as West Hall, it was renamed in 1976 to honor Lillian Helms Buskirk, who was dean of women from 1941 until 1970. The sixth floor is designated as a Quiet Floor. Buskirk Hall is accessible to people with disabilities, and living on the ground level floor offers additional special facilities for physically challenged residents.
Memorial Fountain
On the campus side of the Memorial Student Center, the plaza is also home to the Memorial Fountain, honoring the 75 football players, staff, and community members who lost their lives during the tragic 1970 plane crash. Each November, we honor the memory of these sons and daughters of Marshall with a solemn remembrance ceremony during which we turn off the fountain until next spring. While the water is silent, we have a fire that burns in the fireplace of the Memorial Student Center, so that there is always a memorial to those we have lost.
Memorial Student Center
The Memorial Student Center, located on Fifth Avenue on the south side of campus, was recently remodeled and is a major hub of student activity here at Marshall. Its name commemorates the loss of most of the Marshall football team in the 1970 plane crash near Tri-State Airport. Located in the building, we have a food court featuring a variety of popular food options, such as Chick-fil-a, Steak and Shake, La Famiglia, and Starbucks. In addition, the MSC is home to many of our student activity groups, including our Student Government Association and Campus Activities Board. Campus Activities Board organizes activities for our students, such as concerts, movie nights, and social events.
The MSC also houses our Center for African American Studies, which offers students a home away from home. The office provides a fun and laid-back social space where students can study and connect with students from all over the world. The office is also the primary home for the Black United Students Social Club and connection site for all black Greek letter fraternities and sororities.
We have the newly renovated LGBTQ+ located on the lower level, which provides a warm and welcoming space for all students. The office provides resources, events, and support for students of all orientations and gender identities. In addition, on the lower level we have pool tables and a recreational space.
The Office of Parent and Family Services is located in this building as well. This office is a great resource for all of you parents and they are available when you have questions about campus, housing, student organizations, or anything concerning your role in your student’s college success.
