  1. New Employee Self-Guided Tour

    Welcome to CSULB, also known as The Beach! As a new CSULB employee, you are now a member of a vibrant campus.

    Stops

    1. Brotman Hall

      Brotman Hall is the administrative hub of the university. On your first day of employment, you will “sign in” at Payroll Services, which is located on the third floor of Brotman Hall in Suite 344. Here, you will take your campus identification photo and receive your CSULB ID card. Benefits Services is also located in the same suite.  Staff Human Resources is nearby in Suite 335. The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program and Passport Office are both located on the second floor.

    2. Go Beach Sign

      This stop is for CSULB campus shuttles and Long Beach Transit (LBT) buses. Shuttles are primarily for on-campus transportation while the LBT buses take staff throughout Long Beach.

      Across from the Go Beach sign is the Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) building which houses the Child & Family Center. This Center provides training for early childhood professionals and offers quality childcare services for CSULB students and employees. Priority registration is given to children of student-parents.

    3. Nugget Grill Express Trailer

      Staff members can enjoy dining at the Nugget Grill Express which serves burgers, sandwiches, wraps, and their signature crispy tater nuggets. To save time, order online for pickup with the Toast app.

      Other nearby food vendors include PizzaForno, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and rotating Food Trucks. The nearby walkway, Friendship Walk, also hosts a Farmer’s Market Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

    4. University Student Union

      The University Student Union is a major campus hub. The building is currently closed due to ongoing renovations which are set to be completed in August 2028. Building renovations include expanded food service, increased student lounge and study space, increased meeting and conference spaces, and more.

    5. University Bookstore

      Here, staff can purchase greeting cards, stamps, clothing, gifts, and other items. Inside is the Tech Store, a computer store that carries all the latest technology and provides technology repair services. Be sure to show your CSULB ID when purchasing University Bookstore items for a 10% discount on eligible merchandise. On the first floor is Campus Printing and Design which is a one stop shop for printing and design needs. Staff members may also choose to enroll in the LBS Financial Credit Union, which has a branch location on the second floor. 

    6. Amazon @ The Beach

      Along the south side of the University Bookstore Building is Amazon @ The Beach, a convenient pick-up and drop-off location for Amazon orders, and open 7 days a week.

    7. University Library (LIB)

      Staff have access to the University Library, which has periodicals and books, an online catalog, digital research databases and other resources. 

      The facility also houses the Caffeine Lab which serves your favorite coffee drinks. Skip the line and order online via the GrubHub app.

    8. The Outpost Grill

      The Outpost Grill is another popular campus eatery that offers a wide selection of menu items including pizza, burgers, salads, sandwiches, and more. To save time, place orders online via the GrubHub app.

    9. Key Issue

      Key Issue provides keys for employees who receive authorized access by their department. Key Issue is located in the Beach Building Services building on the east side of campus at 1331 Palo Verde Ave. To receive your keys, bring your valid CSULB ID or state ID and a completed Key Issue form signed by the authorized signature authority for your issuing department. The Key Issue hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

    10. Student Recreation & Wellness Center

      While primarily serving students, staff also have the option to join the Student Recreation & Wellness Center. This center is a 125,000 square foot facility that has a 30-foot rock climbing wall, an indoor quarter-mile track, five basketball courts, and fitness classes such as, yoga, spin, HIIT, Zumba and more.

    11. The LifeFit Center

      Located inside the Kinesiology Building is the LifeFit Center which has exercise equipment, group fitness classes, and personal training. While primarily serving the 55+ community, all staff members have the option to join the LifeFit Center.

    12. LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid

      The Pyramid is home to Long Beach State basketball and volleyball. Staff members receive discounted tickets to individual Athletics games and season tickets. Taking advantage of these deals is a great way to support CSULB’s student athletes.

    13. Isabel Patterson Child Development Center

      The Isabel Patterson Child Development Center offers quality child development services to CSULB students and employees. Priority registration is given to children of student-parents.

    14. Earl Burns Miller Japanese Gardens

      Take a relaxing break from work in the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Gardens. Come feed the koi fish, stroll through the winding pathways, visit the tea house and reflect at the Zen Garden. To visit, make a reservation online through the Garden’s website.
