    1. Harris Learning Library

      Nipissing University's Harris Learning Library opened on June 20th, 2011. The library has won multiple awards for its architectural and interior design.  The Harris Learning Library has a diverse collection of information resources and services, including books, DVDs, archives, streamed videos, e-Books, online journals, and a collection of educational resources. Students have access to learning spaces such as group study rooms, silent study spaces, a brightly lit Thomson Reading Room, a computer lab, and Adaptive Technology rooms.

      The Staff at the Information Desk is there to assist patrons in using the Library.
      This includes:

      • Finding books, articles, DVDs and videos
      • Using the Catalogue and E-Resources
      • Discovering new information sources

      At the Circulation Desk you can:

      • Check out, return, or renew library material.
      • Pick up interlibrary loan requests.
      • Pay overdue fines and lost book charges.

      The Silent Study Room, located on the third floor of the Harris Learning Library, is intended for individual study purposes. Talking is not permitted in order to maintain a quiet working environment free of distractions. 
    9. Group Study Rooms

      Group Study rooms are available for groups of two or more library patrons. These rooms can be booked in person at the Circulation desk, or by phone at 705-474-3450 ext 4222.

    10. Treaty Learning Centre

      The Treaty Learning Centre is a shared space that is managed collaboratively by Enji Giigdgoyang - the Office of Indigenous Initiatives at Nipissing University and the First Peoples Centre at Canadore College. The purpose of the Treaty Learning Centre is to acknowledge the significant history of treaty making between First Nations and the Crown in Canada. The space is used for sharing circles, thesis defences, traditional teachings, research talks, and educational sessions. 
    11. Atrium

      TD Bank Group Atrium
      The Giving Tree, featured in the Harris Learning Library atrium, is a two-story stylized tree made of metal and engineered wood. The sculpture won the Design Edge Canada award in 2012. Visitors are naturally drawn to the piece, which also prominently displays the names of donors in recognition of their support.

      The Harris Learning Library Lounge is the perfect place to kick your feet up and relax. The comfortable couches, proximity to nature, and wealth of natural sunlight will put you at ease. Don't be surprised if you spot a tired student catching some shut-eye!

      The Learning Commons features 46 iMac stations with both Mac and Windows operating systems. The computers in the Learning Commons provide access to scholarly research tools via E-Resources and the Internet, and a host of other services and software programs. You may also access the Library Catalogue and search Journals by Title.
