    2. Admissions/Registrar

      The Office of the Registrar provides academic services and systems for prospective and current students - from initial contact, to application and admission, through course registration, academic advising, and graduation. They provide a wide range of academic services and information and are responsible for maintaining the integrity of students’ official academic records. Some of their services include answering questions regarding admission to programs, providing official transcripts, and storing past exams.

      Vittorio Fedeli Business Centre
      The Fedeli Centre is a multimedia room with a projector, teleconferencing equipment, and outlets on each table for charging. The room seats 120 people.
    4. Nipissing Theatre

      The Nipissing Theater, which seats 225 people, is a multipurpose space for film screenings, guest lecturers, and groups like Students on Stage, the Near North Voices choir, and the Nipissing Dance Club. The theater is also used as a lecture hall for some classes.

      The Office of Indigenous Initiatives aims to help all students reach success at university, whether or not they self-identify as Indigenous. Their services include: Student Success Programming and Advocacy, Enji Giigdoyang Student Lounge and Sacred Space, Elder in Residence program, Wiidooktaadwin Aboriginal Mentorship Initiatives, Debwendizon Annual Aboriginal Youth Education Gathering, Indigenous Week, Annual Welcome Powwow, and the Enji Giigdoyang Speaker Series.

      The finance office is the place to go for anything finance related. Here, students can pay their tuition, ask questions about the payment process, or purchase a locker tag. There is also an OSAP representative available to answer questions regarding financial assistance. Most importantly, staff members in the financial office have all the information needed for applying or receiving scholarships, awards, and bursaries. 

    7. Academic Advising

      The Academic Advising office is the place to go for advice on academic matters. An Academic Advisor can help students plan their degree program, choose courses, clarify academic procedures or regulations, and determine their academic standing, among other services. Appointments can be scheduled by emailing advising@nipissingu.ca, visiting the office, or by calling 705-474-3450 ext. 4358. Do you have a quick question for an Academic Advisor?     8. Green Lounge

      This popular student lounge provides a number of couches and tables, conveniently located close to the A-Wing classes and labs. Named in honour of Murray Green, for his dedicated service to the university.

    9. Social Neuro Endocrinology Lab

      The Social Neuroendocrinology Lab takes a social neuroscience approach to research by combining theory and methodology from social and experimental psychology, endocrinology, neuroscience, social cognition, pharmacology, and molecular genetics. Their ultimate goal is to detail the complex mechanisms underlying variation in human competitive and aggressive behaviour. Their new 1,500 square foot lab facility, which opened in 2017, allows for more on-site testing.

      Nipissing’s teacher candidates are immersed in a continuous professional learning environment exploring the world of integrated educational technology in everyday lesson planning. The Professional Learning Centre provides students with assistance regarding digital technology resources and offers new strategies for producing creative lesson plans
    11. Multimedia Room

      Nipissing University has several Multimedia Rooms, which have a capacity of 50 students. These rooms have all the technology required for a teleconference, allowing professors from all over the world to host guest lectures.

      The Nipissing Cafeteria offers soups, pizza, subs, wraps, and on-the-go products. There is also a Tim Hortons within the cafeteria. Accepted payment methods include debit, credit, cash, and meal plan cards.

    13. Nipissing University Faculty Association

      The Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) represents 170 full-time and over 300 part-time faculty members at Nipissing University. While NUFA is mainly concerned with matters relating to faculty,  they also give out two student bursaries: the Textbook Bursary and the Learning Opportunity Bursary.     14. The Equity Centre Office/Lounge

      The Equity Centre Office and Lounge is a safe, positive space for all individuals in the Nipissing community. The Equity Centre Executives organize and coordinate events and campaigns that highlight gender equity and social justice issues. Visit their Facebook page for more information and event details!

    15. Lynn Johnston Comic Strips

      Nipissing University was featured in some of Lynn Johnston’s For Better or For Worse comics, which can be found throughout the school.

    16. Seminar Classroom

      Many courses at Nipissing University include a seminar component, which typically consist of a maximum of fifteen students and the professor. The small class sizes allow ample opportunity to work collaboratively with fellow students and connect with professors. 

    17. Our Beautiful Backyard

      Nipissing University sits on 720 acres of pristine Canadian Shield forest, overlooking North Bay and Lake Nipissing. There are over 20 km of trails behind the school, which are accessible for hiking in the warmer months and snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in the winter.

      Attending post-secondary doesn’t have to mean overwhelming class sizes and distant professors; at Nipissing, the average class size is 28 students and the ratio of students to faculty is 23:1.
       
    19. Science Labs

      In addition to regular lecture hours, Bachelor of Science students also have designated lab time for many of their classes.  These labs are capped at 25 students and provide valuable hands on experience while also allowing students to connect with their professors. Our facilities include state-of-the-art microbiology, ecology, zoology, and chemistry laboratories. There are also dedicated research spaces such as a fish lab, herbarium, neuroscience lab, and Central Analytical Facility, which is used for isolating and identifying minute quantities of chemicals. 

    20. Traditional Lecture Hall

      This classic lecture hall has a capacity of 110 students and features electrical outlets under the seats.  At Nipissing, we understand that technology is an important part of the lives of many students. Most professors utilize projectors to display lecture content and encourage the use of laptops for note taking purposes.
    21. Education Classroom

      Education classrooms, which are used by students in the Bachelor of Education program, allow for interactive learning and promote teamwork amongst teacher candidates. These rooms are equipped with SMART Board technology so that students can become comfortable with integrating technology into their lesson plans. Students get the opportunity to decorate these rooms as if they were teachers decorating their own classrooms.

      The Owl’s Nest is a student space perfect for studying, relaxing between classes or social gatherings. The lounge often hosts student and university events.

    23. University Technology Services

      Technology Services (UTS) is dedicated to assisting all members of the Nipissing University community make effective use of a wide range of information technologies. Through UTS, students and staff are able to sign out technology equipment such as cameras, iPads, laptops, projectors, and speakers. Highly skilled and customer service oriented staff ensure University members are able to optimize their academic and professional endeavors through the use of technology. The Apple Service Centre provides onsite support for both Apple computers and mobile devices.
    24. Computer Lab

      Nipissing University has four computer labs that are open to students when not being used for a scheduled class. All computers have both Windows and Mac OS operating systems. 
    25. Shared Gym

      The shared gym is utilized by both Nipissing University and Canadore College students. Equipment, including snowshoes, can be signed out from the athletic office located beside the gym. Many of Nipissing's intramural sports are held in the shared gym as well as the majority of class exams.
    26. Print Plus

      Print Plus staff are dedicated to providing the most efficient service to all members of the university community for their printing and binding needs.  Their services include printing, photocopying, engraving, CD/DVD burning, and booklet making, among others.     27. Student Development and Services

      Student Development and Services (SDS) offers a wide range of services for students. Through SDS, students can receive help transitioning to university, access personal counseling, request accessibility services, or hire a tutor. The International Student Support Services and Programs Office, also located in SDS, provides opportunities for Nipissing University students to internationalize their degree through a variety of intercultural experiences such as study exchanges, language programs, internship/volunteer programs, and on-campus engagement opportunities. They also provide support to international students who choose to study at Nipissing University.

    28. The Education Centre Cafeteria

      The Education Centre Cafeteria offers a range of food services including Pizza Pizza, a stir-fry bar, Global Village, a grilled food station, ready-made soups, and on-the-go products as well as a Tim Hortons and Subway.     29. Campus Security and Parking Services

      Nipissing University prides itself in being a very safe school, and Campus Security works to maintain this distinction. Nipissing recognizes that many students are apprehensive about walking to their cars alone at night, so the Campus Safety Walk Program was established.  Parking passes can also be purchased and picked up at the Campus Security and Parking office.

      The Campus Health Centre provides quality services and health care delivery by a licensed physician and nurses. Some of their services include:

      • Injury and Sports Injury Therapy
      • Sutures
      • Injections (incl. Allergy, Depo Provera, B12)
      • Immunizations (incl. TB testing, tetanus, MMR, Hepatitis B, varicella, Gardasil and others by request)

    31. The Campus Shop

      The Campus Bookstore is a one-stop-shop for all university supplies. The bookstore sells and rents textbooks, both new and used. They have all of the textbooks required for any course as well as any additional course materials, such as lab manuals and safety glasses. Don’t forget to check out their section of school supplies.     32. Nipissing University Student Union

      The Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) is the official body representing the student point of view at Nipissing. All students, both full-time and part-time, belong to the Student Union and fund the organization through their incidental fees. NUSU deals with many aspects of student life on campus, including academic governance of the university and planning of social events such as Frosh Week. They also run student awareness campaigns, dealing with such topics as sexual assault and mental health. Are you looking to get involved on campus by joining an existing club or creating your own?
