      1. Maxcy College

Originally planned as a student union building, Maxcy was one of three men's dormitory projects (including two wings to Thornwell College) completed in 1937, funded by the Public Works Administration and dormitory revenue bonds. After renovation in the 1990s, Maxcy became the residence hall for Honors College freshmen, a distinction it held until the opening of the Honors Residence in 2009. Later renovations achieved LEED Gold certification and created the International House at Maxcy College, which brings American and international students together in a shared living arrangement to foster cross-cultural learning. Maxcy, located on Pendleton Street, is named for the Reverend Jonathan Maxcy, South Carolina College's first president.
