Library Annex and Conservation Facility
Located in Northeast Columbia near the South Carolina State Archives, this state-of-the-art building houses materials of academic value and maintain them in a controlled environment. The 19,000-square-foot building consists of a 2,300-square-foot preservation lab, two research/reading rooms, a conference room, a 3,700-square-foot processing, shipping and receiving area, three offices and five workstations, a staff lounge and a high-density storage area known as "The Box." The Box is a climate-controlled storage unit that can store approximately 1.5 million volumes.
