          1. Commencement Ceremony at the Quad

The Spring Commencement Ceremonies will be held May 13-16, 2026 on the University Quadrangle.

            Weather Information

We encourage you to check the weather before attending the ceremonies, as they are held outdoors. Temperatures may vary, and you could be seated in the sun. Bring plenty of water and wear sunscreen. In the case of inclement weather, ceremonies will be moved to the Lawlor Events Center.

            Length of Ceremony

Each ceremony is expected to last approximately 2 ½ hours. When planning post-ceremony celebrations, please note that the recessional may occur earlier or later than the scheduled time. Locating graduates in the crowd after the ceremony can be challenging, so we recommend that you make plans beforehand on where to meet after the ceremony.

            Seating and Accessibility

Guests do not need tickets to attend the Spring Commencement Ceremony. There are no restrictions on the number of guests that graduates are allowed to bring. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Seating will open an hour and a half prior to the start of each ceremony. One person must always remain with any saved seats.

Seating for individuals with disabilities is also available. Reservations are not required; the disabled seating area is available on a first-come, first-served basis. To accommodate as many individuals with disabilities as possible, guests who require seating in this area may only have one attendant sit with them.

            Parking and Shuttle Services

Event parking will be available in the Gateway Parking Complex (limited parking), the Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex and the West Stadium Parking Complex.

Parking permits are not required during commencement.

Shuttle service will be available between the West Stadium Complex and the Quad. Shuttles will begin running two hours prior to the start of each ceremony and run for two hours after each ceremony ends. Be advised that there is no shuttle service from the Brian J. Whalen Complex or the Gateway Parking Complex.

Limited mobility and ADA parking will be available on level 4 of the Gateway Parking Complex, providing close access to the pedestrian bridge.

If you need further assistance, there is a designated drop-off area for limited mobility guests near Morrill Hall, on the south side of the Quadrangle – access from University Way and 9th Street. Ushers will be available to provide a wheelchair escort upon request..
