In the fall of 2023, Tulane University added nine new electric shuttles to its transportation fleet, making it the first university in the New Orleans area to incorporate fully electric vehicles into its campus shuttle program.
These new shuttles are expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by about 33% compared to the vehicles they replaced. With this update, half of Tulane's 18 shuttles and transportation fleet vehicles are now electric.
This shift to electric vehicles is the result of a collaboration involving Tulane Shuttles and Transportation, the Tulane Office of Sustainability, the ByWater Institute, Entergy New Orleans, Model 1 (formerly Alliance Bus Group/Creative Bus Sales), and the Southeast Louisiana Clean Fuel Partnership.
