2024 Crawfest organizers were awarded a Keep Louisiana Beautiful Greener Grounds Grant to enhance litter and waste prevention and reduction efforts. Tulane University is one of the first 25 organizations in the state to receive this grant. With the support of Tulane’s operations teams, the Crawfest team will introduce 12 multi-stream composting stations and replace bottled water with water refill stations.
"Crawfest is a perfect opportunity to build our capacity for diverting waste to compost because the waste from this event is largely compostable," said Jordan Stewart, director of the Office of Sustainability at Tulane.
2024 was the second year that students facilitated compost collections at Crawfest.
