The building is meant for the UW's Faculty Club, a campus retreat house for faculty, staff and alumni. The current Club building sits on the site of the former Hoo-Hoo House, built for the Hoo-Hoo national lumberman's fraternity before it was converted to the UW Faculty Club building. The building is a nationally registered historic building and is honored for its architecture.
