      1. The Auburn Seal

        The Auburn Seal is located directly in front of Langdon Hall. 
        The original seal was designed for Alabama Polytechnic Institute by famous alumnus William Spratling and was adopted by the Board of Trustees on May 30, 1921. It was adapted in the 1970s when API became Auburn University. The seal, placed in front of Langdon Hall in the 1970s, bears a legend that any student who steps on it will be the target of bad luck, with consequences of not graduating on time and not finding one's true love at Auburn. The legend of the seal has been passed along to each generation of incoming classes and, although this is merely a myth, the story has caused thousands of students to consciously walk around the bronze seal every day for years just to avoid being negatively affected by its superst
