Senior Walk began in 1905 when members of the senior class were asked by faculty to think of a new tradition to replace Pennant Day. The 1905 Class proposed inscribing the names of class members on a campus sidewalk.
Hand inscribed by a student, the first name in the 1905 Class was Bertha Abercrombie.
1905 was also the first year that a student earned a master’s degree.
The 1904 Class requested to be added, becoming the second class to inscribe their names.
