Serving as a hub for public observation shows, research of the cosmos, plus astronomy and earth science courses since its completion in 1967, the university's Planetarium/Observatory is a cherished resource for the UNA community.
With a 14-inch Schmidt Cassegrain telescope, SBIG STC-428-P CMOS camera, and other cutting-edge technologies, the UNA Planetarium and Observatory plays an active role in modern research programs such as the American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO).
