History of Lutz-Yelton Residence Hall
The Lutz-Yelton Foundation was formed by family members that owned the oldest petroleum company in Cleveland County, the Lutz-Yelton Oil Company. In 1980, they invested $500,000 for the Convocation Center to be built and began providing annual scholarships in 1987 to graduating high school seniors from Rutherford, Polk, and Cleveland Counties. The Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center and Lutz-Yelton Hall are named in honor of these families who continue to provide support to our University.
