    1. Kokernot Residence Hall Remodeling

      Project Scope:

Kokernot Residence Hall was constructed in 1946-47 and officially opened in 1947, as a men's residence hall at Baylor University. The residence hall now houses first-year female students.

Kokernot Hall (40,380 SF) is the tenth and final component within a master plan to modernize existing residence hall facilities on the Baylor campus. The program objective of the master plan is centered on the mission of Campus Living & Learning (CL&L) “to create diverse residential environments that support learning and faith development through relationally driven communities.”

This project is a comprehensive renovation of Kokernot Hall. The scope of work includes improving accessibility for students and visitors with disabilities, installation of new mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems, modernization of the elevator and premium finish upgrades throughout. In addition to improving the student rooms and community spaces, the renovation will enhance the existing apartments for the Faculty-in-Residence and the

Resident Hall Director and will create a new apartment to accommodate a Resident Chaplain. The project also includes exterior landscaping improvements around the residence hall.

The renovation began in late May 2025 and will complete in Summer 2026, with residents moving into the facility in August 2026 for the 2026-27 academic year.
