The Painting Studio Group Exhibition presents selected work from the 2nd year DRPT student assignment, Concepts through Techniques. The assignment miniature sculpture, made from an inventive assemblage of found materials, is the starting point for a series of eight 12” x 12” painted studies that interpret the maquette using varied techniques. Concepts considered: the relationship between observation and abstraction, process and research, material exploration, and how meaning can be derived from all the formal choices we can make in a painting.
