Built in 1982, the 16th Street Mall is a tree-lined promenade of red and gray granite that runs through the center of downtown Denver. It is the commercial heart of downtown Denver and features a mix of over 300 retail stores, over 50 restaurants and cafes, and a blend of new office buildings and historical buildings. Numerous fountains and plazas offer a variety of daily events and entertainment. Free shuttle buses cruise the mile-long outdoor mall seven days a week.
