The Human Rights and Equity Office (HREO) serves as a catalyst for building a just, inclusive, and sustainable community at OCAD University, advancing understanding of human rights, equity, accessibility, and sustainability through critical reflection, knowledge mobilization, and the transformative power of art and design. The Office champions institutional accountability by advocating for high standards in policies and practices, providing expert guidance on human rights obligations, and ensuring fair resolution of complaints, while fostering reciprocal collaborations with equity-seeking communities locally and globally. Recognizing that progress is a shared responsibility, the HREO partners closely with the Employment and Educational Equity Committee (EEEC) to redress systemic disadvantage and promote cultural change, and remains committed to transparency through regular reporting on its activities and community priorities.
