        502 Three Oaks Drive

Adjacent to Carleton’s Lilac Hill community, Farm House is the College’s interest house focused on sustainable, communal living. Farm is one of the longest chartered themed communities on campus, with a mission to foster awareness and appreciation of sustainable agriculture and sustainable living. Farm House residents plant and tend Carleton’s Student Organic Farm, which provides thousands of pounds of fresh produce each year directly to the College’s dining halls; offer educational programs focusing on sustainable living; and host communal dinners.

Built to passive house standards, Farm and its Lilac Hill neighbors are designed to use 69 percent less energy annually than similar buildings built to meet current energy code standards — they even have rooftop solar panels, which generate enough electricity for each house to reach net zero energy usage!
