          Common Name: Saucer Magnolia
          Scientific Name: Magnolia x soulangeana
          Family: Magnoliaceae
          Origin: China

This is a small sized tree growing to heights of around 20-25 feet with a rounded crown and a multi-trunked growing pattern at its base. The leaves of the tree are light green, cuneate in shape or sometimes lanceolate-like in shape due to the tips being pointed. Flowers are very showy and fragrant, blooming in early spring before leafing out. They are pink on the outside of the petals and pale-white coloration on the interior portions. There are a vast array of magnolia cultivars being grown today with the saucer magnolia possibly being the most sought out and grown.
