        1. Atwater Dining Hall

Completed in 2004, the dining hall’s most notable feature is its green roof, which integrates native shrubs and grasses to cover the roof. This increases storm water retention, improves insulation, and provides some replacement to lost wildlife habitat. The dining hall also makes optimal use of natural light, energy efficiency features, and Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood. All three dining halls on campus place an emphasis on sourcing and serving locally and/or sustainably produced foods. Vegan and vegetarian options are always available. All dining halls participate in a reusable container exchange program to reduce food waste and eliminate single-use carry-out containers. Students also all receive their own reusable mugs to use in the dining halls instead of paper cups. For more information on Atwater, visit the Sustainability website.
