      1. President’s House

This house at 3 South Street was already more than 70 years old when it started housing the College presidents in 1918. But in 2016, after nearly 100 more years, it was born again.

Architects and engineers completely renovated the home, adding geothermal heating and cooling, a power-providing solar array, and energy-efficient windows, among other upgrades, to earn a LEED Platinum certification, the highest sustainability certification awarded by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

The residence is frequently used for hosting events and entertaining College guests. The house stands out as another example of how buildings can retain their historic character, perform sustainably, and meet the College’s needs.
