As Middlebury and its programs have expanded, some departments have outgrown their dedicated buildings. Rather than squeeze into cramped quarters, the College moved some faculty offices into houses lining the streets into town, including this one. Ruth Hesselgrave, Class of 1918, donated this house to the College in 1991.
