The Green Roof Innovation Testing Laboratory (GRIT Lab) was established in 2010 on the roof of the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture building to test the environmental performance of green roofs, green walls, and solar photovoltaic technologies. It is the only facility of its kind in Canada. The lab includes 33 green roof test beds, 3 green walls and 270 sensors to monitor data on various environmental factors like temperature, humidity and solar energy every 5 minutes.
