Since opening to the public in the 1970s, the Art Museum of South Texas has significantly grown. Their Permanent Art Collection contains more than 1,500 works of art showcasing Texas, the surrounding states, and Mexico. In 1995, the Texas State Legislature appropriated funding for the innovative collaboration of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christ and the Art Museum of South Texas. The museum offers A&M-Corpus Christi students competitive internships that range from developing workshops and tours to researching artists and exhibitions. This piece of Corpus Christi history can be found at the end of Shoreline Boulevard.
