Woo Sung Lee was an international student from Korea who enrolled in 1955 at the University of Corpus Christi. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1959, he went into the restaurant business and turned his one fast-food establishment into a chain of highly-successful “Boat-N-Net” Restaurants.
In 2001, Lee provided the resources for the creation of Lee Plaza. This garden area with stone benches, shade trees and the soothing sound of water flowing from a dome-shaped fountain has become a natural gathering spot where many students study or relax between classes. The sanctuary is a testament to Lee’s memories of his University days as well as a memorial to his late son, Yongnam Lee.
