The Archival Facility is an individual unit within University Libraries. The facility houses selected general collections items, special collections, and University of Alabama records. The materials range from books, periodicals, manuscripts, portraits, microforms, and audio-visual items, which are handled following archival standards and maintained in a precise temperature and humidity controlled environment for preservation purposes. The Archival Facility also provides services like interlibrary loan, document delivery, and physical delivery to Gorgas Library and the branch libraries to meet the needs of faculty, students, and partner borrowing institutions. The unit participates in identifying and transferring materials to the facility, enabling growth and progress on renovation projects within University Libraries. Archival Facility personnel provide services and resources that are essential in supporting teaching, research, and learning at The University of Alabama.
