        UVM is responsible for the identification, protection, and management of important natural areas on university-owned lands. These areas include Carse Wetlands, 225 acres of open agricultural fields, forests, and wetlands including a basin of open water. The property features include unusual upland and wetland natural communities and a number of rare plants.
