The 9,500-sq.-ft. sports medicine complex includes a state-of-the-art sports medicine facility for the care of UNCW's 300-plus student-athletes.
The facility brings together the expertise of physicians trained in primary care and orthopedic sports medicine, with coordinated physical therapy, chiropractic and acupuncture care. The facility houses:
- Sports medicine department
- Sports physicians office
- Offices for trainers, coaches, and assistant coaches
- Classrooms and conference room
- Locker rooms
- Hydrotherapy room
The sports medicine complex was named in recognition of Dr. William P. Nixon Jr. and Dr. Durwood Almkuist.
