    1. Center for the Sustainable Environment

The Center for the Sustainable Environment is the headquarters of F&M's myriad environmental initiatives. The ground-floor common area is used by the student-run Fair Trade Cafe to provide low-cost meals made from local, organic sources. The building has a green roof, reducing the energy required to cool and heat the building and retaining water, which decreases runoff during rainstorms. All of the furniture is recycled, and the floors are made of cork, reclaimed hardwood, tires and plastic bottles. Upstairs you'll find a seminar room, where student groups such as the Environmental Action Alliance meet regularly, and a fieldwork lab.
