        Description: Together with neighboring 481 Main Street, this highly ornamented house was built in the early 1890s as housing for faculty, a gift to the university from graduates and benefactors Dr. Edward Williams and John Converse. Faculty offices in the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Asian Languages and Literature, and headquarters for the student Lawrence Debate Union have long been housed at 479.
