The building has general classrooms and houses facilities for the School of Liberal Arts.
Norman Mayer Memorial was constructed in 1942 and enlarged in 1949. Architects Diboll and Kessels designed the buildings in a Romanesque style and built it to conform to the style of the early campus buildings. The round arches made out of Bedford limestone are held close to the ground. Mrs. Norman Mayer donated the funds to Tulane to construct a building in memory of her husband, a prominent New Orleans cotton broker, to be used by the College of Commerce and Business Administration. It once held the A.B. Freeman School of Business. The second section of this building was added in 1949.
