    1. Heating Plant

      The heating plant houses a wood boiler, which provides most of the steam for campus heat and hot water. The boiler uses wood chips as fuel, and 30 percent of it is supplied by a regional furniture manufacturer as a by-product of its manufacturing process. The university has been lauded for this biomass-fueled heating facility that produces no net carbon dioxide emissions.
