The Adams Humanities building is home to classes for the School of Nursing and the College of Engineering, as well as lecture rooms for campus wide use. The University's Instructional Technology Services occupies the first floor of this building.
Constructed in 1977, this building was named in honor of Dr. John R. Adams, Professor of English from 1928-1968. During Adams' tenure, the campus grew from a teacher's college to the largest campus in the California State University system. Adams became chair of the English department in 1940. In 1946, he was appointed chair of the Division of Languages and Literature, which later became the Division of Humanities.
Upon retirement from teaching, Adams, considered a "cornerstone of the University," became a part-time archivist for SDSU.
