      1. Core Science Facility (CSF)

        45 Arctic Avenue

The Core Science Facility is a catalyst for collaboration and new discoveries, a rich on-campus learning environment for students and a focal point for the St. John’s campus.

The skeleton of a blue whale, named Altum, hangs in one of the two atriums of the Core Science Facility as an educational and cultural artifact. Altum is Latin for “deep.” It comes from Memorial’s motto: provehito in altum, which means “launch forth into the deep.”
