VCU has designated what is deemed as the university's core campus geography, which is where VCU's primary academic mission is performed. The core campus includes: buildings or property that VCU owns or controls that directly support or relate to the university's educational purposes, buildings or property owned but not controlled by VCU that support the university's educational purposes and are frequently used by students, as well as public property within or immediately adjacent to this core geography. Clery Act crimes that occur within this area are subject to more robust alerting and reporting procedures than incidents that occur beyond the designated core campus.
